Entry into Jerusalem

A watercolor study of a sixteenth-century Russian icon from Leonid Ouspensky's book The Meaning of Icons. Ouspensky calls attention to the fact that in icons of the Entry into Jerusalem, it is children who spread garments before our Lord, not adults.

As children there is that running with God that happens. Like breathing, it comes naturally .
