A Quiet Get-Away

Some of the more memorable get-aways, are those that are close to home.  My husband and I headed out one morning with a thermos of coffee and made our way to the local nature reserve: a 1,600 acre piece of land comprised of woods, meadows, salt marsh, and two barrier beaches.

The wind as it blows through the leaves of the quaking aspens mimics the sound of rain.  There's no desire to hurry along the trails.  Everything within you tells you to slow down--it's a time to listen and give thanks for the beauty that surrounds us.

And mother nature is her own artist.  Her handiwork, the forms, the patterns, the light.  There for us to stop, to marvel, and to enjoy.

Small Wonders

Blank pages in my sketchbook are a testament to times when I'm probably most productive.  They indicate  moments when I'm pondering, reflecting, or observing.

In life, in nature, there's always glimpses of something I would like to put to paper, but sometimes the need to be quiet, to be still, to listen are more important.
